At Westerhope Golf Club, we are proud to have a growing and welcoming Junior Section, offering young golfers the opportunity to learn the game, develop their skills, and become part of a friendly club environment.

Our junior section is open to boys and girls of all abilities, whether they are completely new to golf or already playing regularly. We place a strong emphasis on enjoyment, progression, and good sportsmanship, helping juniors build confidence both on and off the course.

Our club is a safe, supportive place for young people to learn the game, make friends, and develop a lifelong love of golf.

Junior Coaching & Development
We run regular junior coaching sessions, delivered by our PGA Professionals and supported by experienced volunteers. Sessions are structured to suit different ages and abilities, ensuring juniors are learning at the right pace while still having fun.

Coaching typically focuses on:
- Core golf skills and fundamentals
- On-course play and etiquette
- Short game, putting, and fun challenges
- Building confidence and enjoyment

As juniors progress, they are encouraged to work towards obtaining a handicap and taking part in club competitions.
Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, with older juniors supervised during organised sessions

Competitions & Playing Opportunities
Junior members are encouraged to play golf regularly and take part in:

• Junior club competitions
• Friendly inter-club matches
• County and open junior events (for eligible players)
• Mixed and social golf opportunities where appropriate

Many of our juniors go on to compete in senior club competitions as their confidence and ability develop, and we actively support progression into wider competitive golf when juniors are ready.

We believe junior golf should be enjoyable and inclusive. Alongside coaching and competitions, we encourage:

• A positive attitude to learning and improvement

The junior section works closely with parents, guardians, and the wider club to ensure juniors feel welcome and supported at all times.
